Maximising Manure Valorisation Through Best Management Practices

Agriculture Workshop on Co-Creating Sustainable Nutrient Management Practices

On 5 March 2026, the NPower Regional Cluster in Belgium will host an in-person workshop focused on co-creating Best Management Practices (BMPs) to improve nutrient management in agriculture. The workshop will take place within the framework of the Manure Source Conference, an international event dedicated to innovation and sustainable solutions for manure management.

The session will bring together researchers, practitioners and policymakers from the Flemish and Dutch agricultural sectors to collaboratively refine and expand the list of BMPs identified within the NPower project. The goal is to improve nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) use efficiency in crop production and animal husbandry while reducing emissions to the environment.

Participants will explore practices that enhance manure valorisation and promote more sustainable agricultural systems. Through an interactive co-creation process, stakeholders will discuss existing BMPs and contribute their expertise to identify additional practices relevant to regional conditions.

The workshop will include two thematic discussions focusing on crop production and animal husbandry, creating space for knowledge exchange across different parts of the agricultural value chain.

This activity contributes to the NPower stakeholder collaboration process, supporting the development of practical solutions for circular nutrient management in European agriculture.
